I just came back from taking the TCP/IP exam and I am happy to
report that I passed with a respectable score of 931. Here is what
I remember from the power hour:
As soon as I sat down I immediately wrote down the subnet tables.
I strongly recommend this. There was probably 10 question on subnetting
and all of them were easily answered by reviewing the tables.
Brakedown as follows : 8 scenario questions
10 utility questions (arp, netstat, ipocnfig)
10 WINS Questions (replication partners and resolution)
10 DNS Questions (resolution)
3 SNMP Questions
10 Static IP Questions (hosts, lmhosts)
6 Route Questions (adding and deleting static routes)
This is a ruff estimate of what I encountered. One question that
I remember clearly was:
Your Hosts file has an entry "199.210.5.5 braveheart #Mel
Gibson’s Comp"
When you ping the name "braveheart" you get a response
from host.
When you ping "199.210.5.5 you get no response.
What is the problem?
Transcender Exams are well worth the money, even if you have to
pay for them.
Take a deep breath and remember, this is the career you have chosen.
